LA JOLLA, Calif. — Rounding out a weekend of tough competition, Concordia Baseball (2-6, 0-0 PWC) fell 14-2 in the finale of a three game series against the No. 7 UC San Diego Tritons (4-1, 0-0 CCAA). The Eagles plated runs in the second and fifth innings and finished with six total hits and one error.
Freshman RHP Joshua Ibarra took the ball first for the Eagles, struck out two batters but ended up with todays loss. Ibarra pitched 2.2 innings before being relieved by Morgan Brannock who gave up just three hits and struck out two Tritons. Junior Nicholas Manago finished the game on the mound pitching 1.2 innings.
On offense, pinch hitters Nick Daley and Kyle Fujisaki went 1-for-1 at the plate. Fujisaki was added to the lineup in the ninth inning and singled up the middle. Pinch hitting in the eighth inning, Daley singled through the right side. Haloa Dudoit went 1-for-3 with a single to second base in the top of the third. Nick Grimes and Tony Garcia III each went 1-for-3.
Scoring Summary
Grimes doubled down the left field line in the top of the second inning. Next up to bat, Garcia knocked an RBI single to center field and Grimes crossed the plate. The Eagles trailed UCSD 5-1 at the end of the second. At the top of the fifth, Chris Martin was hit by the pitch and advanced to third on a double to left field by Dillon Millar. Martin ran home on a wild pitch to complete the scoring for the Eagles.
With the competition of ranked opponents, Concordia Baseball went 1-3 on the weekend splitting the two game series against No. 4 Colorado Mesa with a win on Friday and finding two losses against UCSD.

Eagles Baseball returns to Eagles Field on Thursday Feb. 15. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. against non-conference foe Cal Poly Pomona (2-2, 0-0 CCAA).
