AZUSA, Calif. — In the finale of the four game series, Eagles Baseball battled the No. 1 Regionally Ranked Azusa Pacific (14-0, 4-0 PWC). Concordia managed an early lead with runs in the second, third, and sixth innings, before the Cougars fought back with two in the sixth and three in the eighth to hold the lead through the ninth inning. Concordia fell to APU 5-4 in PacWest play.
Neil Lang started on the hill for the Eagles pitching six innings and striking out seven Cougars. Sam Reed relieved Lang and pitched 1.1 inning receiving the loss for todays contest.
At the top of the second inning, Bailey Collins singled to second base and advanced to third on a walk and a throwing error. Nick Grimes flied out to center field but scored Collins for an RBI. The offensive action in the third inning was started from a single up the middle by Juan Zuniga. Haloa Dudoit singled to second base and Zuniga scored for the Eagles second run of the game.
Dudoit knocked another single in the top of the sixth inning. The sophomore advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single up the middle by Davis Tominaga. Concordia led 3-0 through five and a half innings. In the bottom of the sixth, APU got two runs on the board.
In the top of the eighth, Tominaga hit a home run to right centerfield to push the Eagles to a 4-2 lead. APU's offense found strength in the bottom of the eighth scoring three runs and securing the win the 5-4.
