Men's Basketball Recap: Concordia beats NDNU

IRVINE, Calif.— Coming off a win against Holy Names over homecoming weekend, Concordia brought the heat leading all through the first half and sealing the deal in the second half, 65-46. Eagles Men's Basketball (14-9, 8-7 PWC) brought a crowd to CU Arena on Wednesday night for a PacWest tilt against the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur. Notre Dame de Namur is seated 13th in the PacWest standings with a 5-16 overall record and 4-12 in the PacWest.

JT Roach and Tad Dufelmeier put up 17 points and three assists each for the Eagles. Cameron English grabbed six rebounds and posted eight points on the night. 

Halfway into the first period, the Eagles passed around the arch and found Mike Mellinger just outside for the first three pointer of the game. Mellinger was assisted by Gerlach from under the basket. Two minutes later, Roach faked a shot and passed to Mellinger for another three pointer. Dufelmeier led the Eagles with 11 points at the halftime break after back to back three pointers in the final two minutes. The Argonauts trailed the Eagles 35-21 at halftime. 

Continuing to connect passes in the offensive third, a steal by Dufelmeier led to a three pointer by Roach. Chambers faked a shot and found Roach outside the arch for the assist. Michael Vos-Otin tossed a layup at the sixth minute and the Eagles continued their lead, 54-36. 

Two jumpers by Roach and Adam Turner rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. Concordia took the victory over NDNU 65-46. 

UP NEXT

The Eagles take on Chaminade in a PacWest matchup on February 10th. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm at CU Arena.
