Two pitchers and two wins for Eagles Baseball

IRVINE, Calif. — After an 11 hit thriller and a nine-run shutout, Concordia Baseball took down the Holy Names Hawks in doubleheader fashion on Saturday at Eagles Field.

Eagles 5, Holy Names 2:  On the mound in the first game was Neil Lang. The senior pitched nine stellar innings, allowed two runs and struck out eight Hawks for his first win of the season. Davis Tominaga went 2-for-2 with two walks, Haloa Dudoit went 2-for-4 with one walk, and Chris Martin went 3-for-4. The Eagles got on the board early after Dudoit singled and Hunter Holland hit a triple to left center. Soon after, Holland scored on a wild pitch bringing Concordia's lead to 1-0 after the first inning. Two of the Eagles five runs were scored on wild pitches and one was scored on a balk. Dudoit and Tominaga knocked the only two RBI's of the game with a hit each to the center and right field grass.

Eagles 9, Holy Names 0: Sophomore Cade Temple took the ball to the hill for the second game. Temple threw seven shutout innings and struck out three Hawks. Temple received his first win of the season. Alex DiMascio continued his hot streak in the series as a pinch hitter, going 2-for-3 with an RBI in the third inning. Dudoit knocked in two runs in the fourth inning after a single to right field. Bailey Collins followed up with a single of his own to bring Dudoit home. Chris Martin smashed a double to right center in the sixth inning to score Collins.

Up Next: Eagles Baseball (8-14, 5-7 PWC) is headed to San Diego, Calif. for a four game series against Point Loma. The first doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday, March 15th at 12 p.m.
