Concordia splits on Saturday, takes three games against FPU

IRVINE, Calif. — Coming off of two back to back wins on Friday afternoon, Eagles Baseball split the twin bill with the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds on Saturday. Concordia was slow to start in game one, dropping the game 11-5. Redeeming themselves in the nightcap, the Eagles scored one run per inning for five innings to take game two 5-0.

Tony Garcia III led the Eagles in game one going 4-for-4 with a double and a run. Concordia utilized the depth in its lineup and spread the hits around. Nick Grimes came up clutch in the DH spot with a double that knocked in two runs in the eighth. Nick Bates entered the game at second base and used his at-bat to knock an RBI double. Will Cohen started on the mound and threw three innings and allowed three hits before being relieved by Alex Zalasky and later, Isaiah Bettencourt

Joshua Ibarra went to work at the mound in game two through seven innings. The freshman allowed two hits and struck out four Sunbirds. In the first inning, Alex DiMascio continued his hit streak with an RBI single up the middle to score Dillon Millar. The second inning run was scored on a wild pitch where Dominic Castro sprinted from second all the way home. Dimascio struck again in the third with a sacrifice fly to score Haloa Dudoit

Chris Martin smacked an RBI doubled down the left field line in the fourth growing the Eagles lead to 4-0. Juan Zuniga rounded out the scoring in the fifth with a single to right field that scored Bailey Collins

Against FPU, the Eagles went 3-for-4 in the PacWest series.
