Concordia Drops Opening Game to Dixie State

Concordia baseball dropped the opening game of its series with fourth place Dixie State, Thursday, by a score of 8-1. The Trailblazers entered the PacWest matchup with a 20-22 overall and 16-16 conference record.

The Eagles and Trailblazers remained even through the third, until Dixie State delivered the first run of the game in the fourth. Down 2-0, Bailey Collins sent a shot over the right field fence to put the Eagles within one. DSU extended the lead on the Eagles in the sixth with four runs and added two more in the eighth. Although CUI threatened to score on hits from Collins, Tony Garcia, Dillon Millar and Nick Grimes,  Concordia couldn't convert  them to runs.

Eagle Eye: Collins was three-for-four with one run and one RBI. Garcia registered two hits. Cade Temple struck out two.

What's Next: The Eagles continued their series with Dixie State Friday at 3 p.m. in Irvine, Calif. Saturday, Concordia and the Trailblazers will play the final two games of the series beginning at 12 p.m.
