IRVINE, Calif. — Eagles Baseball returned to Eagles Field for a post-graduation PacWest series against the Biola Eagles (28-18, 20-16 PWC). Through eight and a half innings, Concordia played to its offensive strengths and defeated Biola, 8-5. After being hit by the pitch once in todays game, Hunter Holland has tied the Concordia Baseball record for most times Hit By Pitch (HBP) in a season.
The Eagles offense was hot right off the bat, scoring four runs off three hits in the bottom of the first inning. Leadoff man Dillon Millar walked to become the first base runner of the game. Base hits by Haloa Dudoit, Alex DiMascio, Dominic Castro, and a error in left field scored four runs. Cade Temple forced a 1-2-3 inning to bring up Millar at the top of the Eagles order in the second. Bailey Collins doubled but the Eagles left two on. Biola fought back in the third, adding two runs to its side of the scoreboard. Concordia matched it with two of their own after a single by Chris Martin and an RBI double by Millar. An RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth brought the Eagles lead to 7-2 over Biola.
Biola scored solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings before reliever Jack Reugge headed to the mound to strikeout two and force a fly out.
In right field, Castro made a grab at the wall to keep Biola off the board in the top of the eighth.
Bailey Collins ripped a line drive over the fence in center field for his 10th home run of the season, eighth highest number of home runs in a season in the Concordia Baseball record book.
Morgan Brannock headed to the hill in the top of the eighth for the Eagles, faced two batters and struck one out to end the game at 8-5.
