IRVINE, Calif. — Coming off its first PacWest win, Eagles women's soccer took on the Eagles of Biola University in a non-conference tilt. Concordia dominated offensively outshooting Biola 36-12, smashing 18 of its 36 shots on frame. The teams fought for 110 minutes, through two overtime periods to finish in a 3-3 draw.
Concordia started its offensive press early, getting shot after shot on goal. In the first half alone, CUI put up 15 shots to Biola's one. One shot was all BU needed to score in the 20th minute and take its first lead of the game.
Within four minutes, Concordia fired back. Marianna Maldonado took a corner kick from the right side of the field to find the head of Kara Gilchrist at the far post. Gilchrist redirected the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer.
Keely Abt added a goal of her own before the halftime whistle with a shot to the upper right corner, assisted by Katie Gast. Concordia headed to halftime with a 2-1 lead.
Biola turned up the heat in the second half, recording eight times its number of shots in the first half. BU's Jeffries came up big with back-to-back goals to steal the lead for her squad, 3-2.
With five minutes remaining in regulation time, Carmany Jones took an over the top pass from Maldonado, beat her defender, and ripped a shot by the keeper to send the match to overtime. Tied at 3, the teams continued their battle through two 10 minute overtime periods to finish in a draw.
