The Eagles were able to take a 2-0 lead the first two matches, while the Silverswords were able to battle back the next two sets to ultimately come down to another fifth set.
The first and second set were dominated by Concordia as they were able to hang onto their lead and winning both with scores 25-18 and 25-23. The Eagles hit a dominating .394 and .364 with only six hitting errors in the first two sets.
The third set was a different story as the Silverswords were battling for another set to stay in the game. Just as the Silverswords were able to take the lead 14-18,
Ailsa Watson went on a service run to tie the game at 19 a piece. While the Eagles needed one point to win the match, the Silverswords were able to rally and score a few more points as the score would be tied again 25 all. Going back and forth until the end of the set, Chaminade was able to pull off the win with a 27-29 score.
In the fourth set, Chaminade started out the set with a 0-6 run and would stop the run by a service error. Chaminade would take off with that lead and did not let up as the Eagles could not come back in the set losing with another close score 22-25.
The fifth set is where it all came down to see who would win this long, hard fought match-up. The Eagles were up 12-9 when the Silverswords would go on a four point run to be just one point behind. A kill by
Jaclyn Brown would give the Eagles the lead 14-13 and would just need one point as she would be the next server as well.
Riley Gill and
Hannah Tostado would get the game winning block to win the game for the Eagles 15-13.
Patience O'Neal would lead the team with 18 kills.
Riley Gill and
Emily LaCroix-Dalluhn would both rack up seven blocks.
Jaclyn Brown was all over the court tonight with 17 kills, three aces, and 14 digs.
The next match will be the battle between the Eagles as they take on Biola University on September 26th in La Mirada at 7:00 PM.
