HONOLULU, HI – The Concordia men's volleyball team took on its fourth nationally ranked team of the season on Friday night, facing No. 4 Hawaii in day two of the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Warrior Classic.
The Rainbow Warriors came out on top in a sweep of the Eagles, but
Addison Enriques defended the back court well with a season-high 13 digs. Enriques, along with
Isaiah Kaaa and
Owen Chun each got the start as they got to play in front of their hometown friends and family.
Concordia started off the match with the momentum, sending back a Rainbow Warrior attack and
Jordan Hoppe earning his first of a team-high nine kills off a backrow Hawaii defender. Coming out of a timeout,
Noah Lassandro delivered a kill to put the Eagles within four at 12-8.

Hoppe put the Eagles up early in the second set off the right side and followed by a
Raymond Barsemian kill through a triple block to take the 2-0 lead. Hawaii turned around to take the lead, but Lassandro collected back-to-back aces to make the score 9-5. A Howell swing clipped the sideline to earn the final Concordia point of the set with Hawaii taking the final two at 25-12.
A trio of Eagle kills put Concordia up 3-1 to begin the third set. Hoppe had a kill delivered by Kaaa heading into the media timeout, down 15-8. The momentum shifted midway through the set as Enriques scooped up a ricochet through a triple block that Kaaa back set to
Jonathan Carlson for a kill. Carlson stepped back to the service line and rocketed an ace for consecutive Concordia points. Barsemian and Howell put down kills in a late 3-1 run with Hawaii closing out the match at 25-20.
