BELMONT, Calif.- CUI women's volleyball traveled up north to take down the Argonaunts in four sets.
The first set was a battle neck and neck as NDNU won 24-26. After that the Eagles took charge and defeated the Argonauts in the next three sets. Concordia doubled-up Notre Dame de Namur in the second, outhitting them .441 to .212, by way of 19 kills for the Eagles.
Another close set in the third as CUI won 25-23. The front line was working hard, collecting five blocks in that set alone. In the fourth set the Eagles took the game by winning the set 25-18.Â
Many players contributed to this win, but it was the setter,
Brianna Latigue that orchestrated the effective Concordia offense.
"
Brianna Latigue set a balanced attack and kept the NDNU defense scrambling with her great distribution" said head coach
Paula Weishoff, "
Jaclyn Brown had another good night leading our offense with 14 kills.
Jordan Mineer had 11 kills,
Mackenzie Jensen had 10 and Tostado with 8."
Aside from the usual starters, Weishoff also credits two players who came off the bench to help spark the team to its Saturday afternoon victory.
"
Maddie Adams came in to serve and sparked key runs and important aces, great for the birthday girl" added Weishoff, "NDNU came out with strong serving and hitting but we responded with a spark from
Cambria Fernandez and continued to improve in every facet of the game."
Concordia is now 6-7 in conference and is looking to continue building on their two-game winning streak.
Looking forward, the Eagles are back in CU Arena to face off with Biola for its Code Yellow game on Friday, Nov. 1
