IRVINE, Calif.- In the battle of the PacWest Conference undefeated the Eagles fell to the Sea Lions.
The Eagles came out strong and ready to compete.Â
Marianna Maldonado did not waste any time and scored less than two minutes into the game. Maldonado took that one between her own two feet and scored her fourth goal of the season unassisted.  The majority of the first half was controlled by the Eagles as the energy of Maldonado's goal was contagious throughout the team. It was not until 33 minutes into the first half when Point Loma scored to tie the game 1-1 where the momentum shifted.   Â
CUI women's soccer looked to come out strong in the second half it just was unable to go their way. The Sea Lions knocked in another two goals within the first five minutes of the second half. The Eagles were battling hard trying to come back and get shots off, but credit goes to PLNU defense as they held CUI to six shots this game. With less opportunity with shots the Eagles were unable to score in the second half. The Sea Lions scored one more time with four minutes left in the game to have a final score of 1-4.
The Eagles saluted nine seniors for Senior Day:
Kaelyn Whitcomb,
Megan Hussey,
Nicole Font,
Olivia Khoury,
Grace Dalo,
Kara Gilchrist,
Maya Yamak,
Isabella Angotti-Jones, and
Lauren Rodriguez. The CUI Athletic Department would like to take the time to thank these nine seniors for all their hard work on and off the field.  The women's soccer team shows positive energy through everything that they do and these nine seniors will be greatly missed.
