IRVINE, Calif. – After facing tough competition on the road, the Concordia men's volleyball team returns to CU Arena and welcomes two top ten conference foes.
 
The Eagles begin the week on Feb. 20 against No. 6 UCLA. To round out the week, Concordia will host No. 4 Pepperdine. This will be just the second time in program history that both of these teams will play in CU Arena.
 
WEEK RECAP:
Concordia went 0-2 last week, falling at No. 8 BYU and No. 9 Stanford. Junior outside hitter Jordan Hoppe collected double-digit kills in both matches to lead the Eagles. The first set battle against BYU, ties the longest set among all MPSF teams for the season, going the distance to 32-30. Sophomore libero Addison Enriques remains at the top of the conference in digs per set (2.25) and senior middle blocker Hunter Howell is fourth in hitting percentage (.365).
 
ABOUT UCLA:
The Bruins are coming off a NCAA National Championship appearance in 2018 and defeated the Eagles in all three matches last season. UCLA returns two first team All-Americans in setter Micah Ma'a and middle blocker Daenan Gyimah. Last week the Bruins fell at now No. 5 UCSB and top-ranked Long Beach State without All-MPSF outside hitter Dylan Missry. UCLA is 10-4 overall and currently in second place in the MPSF with a 2-0 record.
 
ABOUT PEPPERDINE:
Reigning MPSF Player of the Year David Wieczorek returns for the Waves and is leading his team in kills and points while ranking third in each in the MPSF. Second year head coach David Hunt has guided his team to a 10-2 record overall and sits at first place in the MPSF at 3-0. As a team, the Waves rank top ten in the nation in aces, assists, digs, kills, and hitting percentage.
