COSTA MESA, Calif. – Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball travelled down the freeway to play against Vanguard Wednesday night. The Lions were able to take the match 25–20, 25–21, and 25–18.
Leading the offensive charge was
Christian Galoppo who delivered a team high nine kills. Despite facing consistent pressure at the net Galoppo maintained a solid .208 hitting percentage while also contributing defensively with 2 block assists.
Outside hitter
Myles Henderson who turned in one of the most efficient performances of the night. Henderson recorded seven kills on 17 swings hitting an impressive .235 while making his mark from the service line with four aces. His aggressive serving kept the opposition off balance and played a key role in shifting momentum at critical moments.
Logan Whitaker contributed across multiple phases of the game finishing with four kills and a team-high six digs. Whitaker's defensive consistency and 2 service aces helped anchor the back row.
Paul Schulteis and
Nathan Habermas posted a combined three kills and five block assists out of the middle. Habermas contributed with three digs out of the back row.
Cole Wachter came into the game and chipped in offensively with a kill.
In the backcourt
Joseph Nunez and
Joseph Sowers focused on serve receive duties and had a combined five digs from the back row.
Matt Fisher ran the offense for two of the sets dishing out 14 assists while
Connor Orrock ran the offense in the third set with six assists.
The Golden Eagles look to take on Vanguard again Friday Apr. 17 in the CU Arena at 6 p.m. as they will honor their seniors before the match.
