IRVINE, Calif. – Three different Eagles scored a trio of goals against Azusa Pacific on Friday but unfortunately a late tally in the final minute of regulation helped the Cougars escape with a 12-11 win.
Dainlyn Santoro,
Madison Ravelo, and
Shannon Graham each scored three goals against APU. Â Santoro cashed in on three penalty shots in the first quarter and the teams were tied 3-3 heading into the second period.
Concordia built a 6-4 lead by halftime. Ravelo found the back of the net twice in the second and added a third on a penalty shot shortly after intermission. But APU rallied with seven goals in the third quarter to move back in front.
With APU leading 11-9, Graham's third tally with just over five minutes to play in the fourth made it a one-score game. CUI junior
Elena Isogawa provided the key equalizer with just over two minutes remaining to knot the game at 11 apiece.
However, APU's Arianne Yeo scored the final goal of the game with under 30 seconds left on the clock to help the visitors swim off with a narrow victory.
The Eagles will return to action on Thursday, April 11 at 4 p.m. when they visit Cal Baptist.
