HILO, Hawai'i - The CUI women's soccer team finished their conference road trip in Hawaii on Tuesday afternoon against the Vulcans of Hawai'i Hilo. The Eagles headed into the match with a 2-0-1 record in PacWest play.
Two solid defensive performances from both teams kept the match at a stalemate throughout the first half. The Eagles defense held the opposing strikers from creating any threatening chances, facing five shots in the half.
The second half of play proved to be similar to the first, until the final fifteen minutes of the game when Hilo was able to sneak a shot by the Eagles, gaining the 1-0 advantage. The single goal proved to be the defining chance of the match, with the Vulcans earning the win and the three points.
Senior keeper
Hailey Asato collected three saves in the match, with
Jadenn Carrillo and
Kayla Figueroa collecting a shot on goal for the Eagles.
The green and gold are back at home this weekend as they continue PacWest play against Academy of Art on Saturday, Oct. 23rd, at 3:00 p.m.
