IRVINE, Calif. – After a sweep over Biola last week, the Eagles were eager to continue their momentum at home as they played against Fresno Pacific on Thursday night. CUI had full control of the match and finished with another sweep over the Sunbirds and scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-19.
 
Patience O'Neal led the Eagles with 14 kills and an impressive .444 hitting percentage on the night.  Kirra Schulz was right behind her with 13 kills and 11 digs, making that her eighth double-double of the season. Right side hitter Daniela Poles knocked down 10 kills, five digs, and two blocks with one solo.
 
Both middle blockers Hannah Tostado and Jalyssa Sanchez had a stellar night with five and six kills respectively while hitting over .400. They each contributed two blocks at the net with a total of nine digs combined.
 
Brianna Latigue dished out 44 assists in only three sets and racked up four kills and nine digs while libero Cassidy Gelacio dug up 14 digs. Defensive specialist Julia Wilson had 16 digs which marks a four-game double-digit dig night.
 
The Green and Gold had full control in the first two sets taking early leads over the Sunbirds and never looking back. The third set was closer as FPU came up to tie the set 17 apiece until Gelacio went to the back line and gave the Eagles a three point lead. CUI  didn't allow the Sunbirds back in the game after that. Wilson finished the match off by serving and teaming with Poles for a kill to seal the sweep.
 
The Eagles continue their homestand Friday, Oct. 22 against Academy of Art at 7 p.m. in the CU Arena along with another three next week against the three Hawai'i teams in the PacWest Conference.
