IRVINE, Calif. – After the Eagles went on a 4-0 run with sweeps over PacWest teams, Chaminade challenged them with four sets. The Silverswords snapped their win streak with scores 23-25, 20-25, 25-16, and 16-25.
 
Senior Patience O'Neal led the Eagles with 14 kills on the night tying her season-high kills for the fourth time. Kirra Schulz was right behind notching 10 kills and 16 digs making plays all over the court throughout the match. Danielle McCasland tied her career-high of eight kills and had a career-high of eight digs from the back.
 
Middle blockers Jalyssa Sanchez and Hannah Tostado contributed 11 kills combined while setter Brianna Latigue dished out 37 assists and scooping up 10 digs.
 
Another stand out performance from Julia Wilson with 19 digs and making some clutch plays for the Eagles that kept the momentum going. The Hawai'i native Cassidy Gelacio had another 16 digs for the Green and Gold.
 
In the third set, CUI took an early lead over CUH with Schulz serving and a couple errors from the Silverswords. The Eagles took control of the set and a kill from Latigue made it set point while Wilson was at the end line serving for set point. An error from the Silverswords finished the set and forced a fourth set.
 
In the fourth, the Silverswords jumped out with an early lead over the Eagles. Kawehi Chang came into the game and had three assists. The Silverswords were able to stop the Eagles from going on a run to allow them back into the match.
 
CUI women's volleyball team are now 13-6 and 8-4 in PacWest and will be back on the court Friday, Oct. 29 against Hawai'i Pacific at 7 p.m.
