LA MIRADA, Calif. – Thursday was an important match for two sets of Eagles on the pitch as the regional rivals were vying to earn three points and position themselves higher in the PacWest standings.

Concordia's upperclassmen helped get the offense going against Biola on the road and gave the Green and Gold a boost at key moments.

Down 1-0 midway through the first half, Willy Ospina let loose with a sizzling strike to the right side to beat Biola's keeper.  The equalizer came off a strong throw-in by Klaus Huovila who played it neatly inside the box. The ball caromed around briefly before landing right in front of Ospina, and he wasted no time by lining it up perfectly for an immediate confidence boost.

Eli Amadin set up CUI's second tally of the match after intermission.  With Biola ahead 3-1 lead, Concordia worked the ball around the perimeter before Amadin feinted inside. He then dropped the ball off to Brett Lux, who unleashed the fury and went top left corner to pull the visiting Eagles within 3-2.

It was Amadin's fifth assist of the season and moved him into a tie for fourth place all-time for career assists in program history (William Prado holds the top mark with 30 career assists at CUI).  Amadin leads the Eagles with 15 points this season and is tied with Alex Perez with five goals apiece for most on the squad.

CUI drastically outshot Biola 23 to 10 on the night. Perez led CUI with eight shots and put two on goal.  Recently named PacWest Player of the Week Luke Ryan also landed two shots on target.

Unfortunately for the Green and Gold, the Red and Black prevailed 5-2.

The next chance for CUI to earn a win is this coming Thursday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. when the Eagles welcome Dominican to town.
