LA MIRADA, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer squad traveled north Thursday to play at Biola for the second time this season, looking to improve on their conference record of 3-1-1.
It was the home team of Biola that opened up the scoring in the match, putting an early chance away in the 15th minute. But CUI wanted a part of the scoring action as
Olivia Ocampo found her third goal of the season assisted by
Layla Comeaux, drawing the game level again.
Ocampo was fired up after scoring her first and wasn't content with being tied. So in the 30th minute, she found the back of the net again, this time with
Riley Walkington assisting the finish. This put CUI ahead for the first time in the match. For Ocampo, it's also her fourth goal of her freshman season at CUI.
With the team up a goal over the home team heading into the second half, Concordia wasn't finished scoring as
Jadenn Carrillo was able to seal the win in the 64th minute of regulation. Analisa Gjonvich was the third member of the Green and Gold to record assists in the match as she helped set up Carrillo for that important insurance goal.
Concordia women's soccer improves to 4-1-1 in league play, as this marks their second PacWest victory in the last week.
The Eagles of Concordia are back in conference action back at home next Thursday, Nov. 4th at 3 p.m., as they head into the final few games of their 2021 regular season looking to continue their recent success.
