IRVINE, Calif. -Â The Eagles had a chance to measure up against No. 9 UC Davis on Friday and were able to find the back of the net on some sweet connections.
Senior
Christian Bowley opened the scoring to give CUI a 1-0 lead early on. After a low-scoring first quarter, Jackson Millius fired a shot past the UC Davis goalie to pull the Eagles within 3-2 midway through the second period.
In the second half,
Jacob Stuart found
Callin Chimilar for another tally and
Austin Wade helped set up
Gio Khizanishvili for a score in the fourth quarter for the Eagles.
Meanwhile,
Jeff Runyan converted off a 5-meter penalty shot in the second half to up his team-leading total to 42 goals on the season. That tally also gives Runyan five goals this season against ranked teams.
However, the Aggies found their groove offensively and were able to seize control of the game on their way to a 21-5 victory.
CUI returns to action for two games on Saturday, Oct. 9 against Westcliff and Pepperdine out at a tournament in Riverside. The tourney is being hosted by California Baptist University, and live stats will be available for both games via The Fosh.
