SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Men's soccer finished their PacWest road schedule Thursday afternoon, taking on the Sea Lions of PLNU in San Deigo.
The first half was very evenly matched between the two sides, with each team compiling six shots in the half. However, the home team struck first, taking the 1-0 advantage in the first fifteen minutes heading into halftime.
In the 60th minute,
Nick Rodriguez was able to find the equalizer, scoring his first career goal for the Green and Gold, assisted by
Alex Perez. This half saw much more action as CUI outshot PLNU 10 to 9 shots as they headed into overtime tied 1-1.
Unfortunately, the Sea Lions found the go-ahead goal, ending the match 2-1 in the 98th minute of extra time.
Perez led the Eagles with four shots, with
Luke Ryan,
Miguel Pena, and
Tyler Oakson earning two shots each. Freshman Keeper
Andre Flores collected six saves in the overtime heartbreaker, bringing his season total to 48.
The Eagles close out the season against Fresno Pacific this Saturday, Nov. 13th, at 6:00 p.m., with Senior night celebrations taking place prior to kick-off.
