Eagles Win Sixth Straight

FRESNO, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team are still running with their win streak hitting their sixth in a row with five of them being sweeps. CUI played against Fresno Pacific on Saturday and finished in three sets with dominating scores 25-21, 25-13, and 25-15.
 
Setter Brianna Latigue dished out 37 assists sets and marks her eighth time hitting over 30 assists in just three sets. Latigue has scooped up double-digit digs on 10 different occasions for the Green and Gold. Libero Cassidy Gelacio had another 10 digs along with Julia Wilson adding six.  
 
Hannah Tostado had an outstanding performance putting up numbers in every category. The Whittier, Calif. native had nine kills and led the Eagles with five blocks. Tostado also contributed with two aces and four digs.
 
Jalyssa Sanchez was unstoppable in the middle with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .571. The senior added three blocks including one solo. Kirra Schulz contributed to the win with another double-double earning herself 14 kills and 10 digs.
 
Freshman players Kennedy Farley and Ola Magiera put up eight and five kills respectively as well as hitting above .310 for the Eagles. The duo came up defensively with five digs combined and three blocks a-piece.   
 
The Sunbirds were able to keep within distance in the first set but the Eagles were able to close it out with a kill from senior Schulz. In the second and third set, CUI took full control of both and did not allow FPU to get more than two points in a row holding them to scores 13 and 15.
 
The Eagles look to continue momentum on the road against Point Loma on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. The last regular season game will take place in the CU Arena where they will host Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. The Eagles will also be honoring their seniors before the match.
