SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The CUI women's basketball team fell short to Northwest Nazarene on Saturday by a score of 62-75.
Jasmine Rachal led the offense against NNU, scoring 19 points and making four beyond the arc. Rachal has scored at least 15 points in all four games she has appeared in this season, ranking second on the team in scoring behind
Michaela VanderKlugt.
The 12-time PacWest Player of the Week, VanderKlugt, also contributed a double-digit performance in the game, scoring 11 while recording five rebounds and two assists. She currently leads CUI with 89 points on the year.
The team shot a collective 50 percent (12 for 24) from three-point range, their best of the season. Despite allowing five less turnovers and and recording three more steals than NNU, the Eagles were unable to make up the deficit and come away with the win.
The Green & Gold look ahead to a week in paradise, facing all three Hawaii PacWest schools in the aloha state next week. Their PacWest opener takes place on Monday against Hawaii Pacific, followed by a matchup against Chaminade on Wednesday and Hawaii Hilo on Friday.
