IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia women's volleyball team advanced to 15-6 and 10-4 in the PacWest conference as they played against Holy Names tonight. The Eagles were able to hold the Hawks, earning their 11th sweep in the season thus far. The Eagles finished with scores 25-9, 25-17, and 25-18.
Junior
Kirra Schulz had a standout performance for the Eagles as she led the team with 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .458 while digging up eight digs. Outside hitter
Kennedy Farley made an immediate impact for CUI finishing the night with nine kills and two blocks.
The Italy native
Daniela Poles put down seven kills and four digs along with two blocks. Duo
Mackenzie Jensen and
Ola Magiera made their presence known on the court with five blocks from Jensen and four from Magiera. Jensen earned all five in just one set while Magiera racked her blocks in two.
Setters
Brianna Latigue dished out 20 assists while
Kawehi Chang added seven.
Julia Wilson helped the Eagles with four assists and five digs on the night while libero
Cassidy Gelacio dug up 14 from the back. As serving continues to be a strong factor for CUI, four different Eagles had an ace and went on long service runs that extended the lead throughout the night.
Wilson went on a nine point run in the first set to put the Eagles at a 21-8 lead over the Hawks and
Hannah Tostado finished the set from the back line serving. In the third set HNU went on a seven point run to bring them within just four points from CUI but errors from the Hawks led to an Eagle victory.
The Eagles will have a double header Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. against Dominican in the CU Arena. CUI will be on the road for the following three games until they come back home on Nov. 20.
