IRVINE, Calif. - Saturday night, the green and gold were back in action against the visiting Hawks of Holy Names as they looked to continue their push for the PacWest title. Women's soccer entered the match 5-1-1 in the conference, looking to continue chasing a chance at the NCAA tournament.
The first half proved to be a continued offensive showing from the Eagles as they outshot the visitors 19-3. The first goal came at the 12th minute from
Analisa Gjonovich, who collected a pass from
Jadenn Carrillo and fired it past the Hawks goalie. The second goal arrived only nine minutes later as
Layla Comeaux fired a laser of a free kick from a drop ball into the upper left corner, catching the visitors by surprise.
Olivia Ocampo later collected her eighth goal on the season, connecting her head with a crossed ball from Comeaux at the back post. The final goal of the half was from
Hannah Teston, who put the finishing touch on a loose ball in the 6-yard box off of a corner from
Brianna Guerra.
In the second half, the offensive push from the Green and Gold didn't stop, but they unfortunately were unable to put any of their 12 shots past the opponent's keeper, who made some impressive saves in the half.
The Eagles improve to a 6-1-1 PacWest record and show an impressive offensive presence from all of their players.
