Box Score LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – The Eagles went on the road tonight for the last match-up against UCLA during MPSF Conference play. The Bruins were able to finish the series 2-1 in three sets with scores 22-25, 20-25, 15-25.
Graduate seniors
Raymond Barsemian had 10 kills while hitting an impressive .318 while
Jordan Hoppe on the outside with eight kills on the night.
Jesper Schut went four-for-seven with a hitting percentage of .429.
Erik Boisvert led the Eagles with five digs followed by
Addison Enriques with four.
Jonathan Carlson made an impact in the third set going 5-for-8 and no errors hitting a .625 with two digs.
In the first set, the Eagles were able to go on a five point run with Barsemian tallying an ace and Boisvert with a block to come within one point, 21-22. A block from UCLA will have them take the set with a close score 22-25. The Eagles finished the set with a .393 hitting percentage, only having two errors.
In the second set, CUI was able to keep within a couple points in the beginning of the set. The Bruins were able to break away not allowing the Eagles to go on more than a two point run to close out the set 20-25.
The Bruins continued their momentum into the third set taking the set and match 15-25.
Owen Chun and Carlson came in to start the set for the Eagles. Last match-up against UCLA on Saturday, Carlson and Chun came in and made an impact for the Green and Gold, which was no different tonight. Both came in and blocked UCLA straight down to try to get some energy for the Eagles. A kill from Carlson from the back row and an ace from Chun brought the Eagles within three. Once again UCLA would not allow CUI to go on a run longer than three points.
