PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Concordia men's volleyball team traveled to Arizona this weekend to compete against Grand Canyon in make-up matches from earlier of the season. The Eagles fell short in three sets with scores 21-25, 21-25, and 17-25.
Jesper Schut led the Eagles tonight with nine kills while hitting an impressive .615 and three blocks. Seniors
Raymond Barsemian and
Jordan Hoppe contributed with seven and four kills respectively. Barsemian tallied five digs and Hoppe added four.
Many players saw the court tonight and each hitter contributed at least one kill each. Four Eagles added three kills each which included
Erik Boisvert,
Josh Boothroyd,
Mason Mullins, and
Jonathan Carlson. Freshman
Brock Henderson led the setters with 11 assists followed by
McLain Mott and
Christian Oviedo dished out 10 and 7.
In the first set, the Lopes kept within distance from the Eagles and were able to close out the set over the Green and Gold while going on a five point run. The next two sets went the other way to the Lopes with taking an early lead. Neither team went on a run longer than three and kept within distance but GCU closed them out.
The Eagles look to bounce back tomorrow, Apr. 17 at 4 p.m. against GCU again and to close out conference play.
