Game Recap: Women's Water Polo | | Kara Vincitorio

CUI Edged By No. 18 CBU

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team competed against No. 18 Cal Baptist University today which marks the fifth time playing against a ranked opponent this season. The Eagles looked to come back in the fourth quarter but CBU closed out the game winning by a close score 9-11.

CBU was able to hold CUI scoreless in the first quarter while the Eagles only allowed two goals from the Lancers. Kim Reidel was able to score two goals in the second quarter along with one from Ta'iuta Uiagalelei and Tamsyn Evezard. Evezard scored her goal with just 15 seconds left in the first half to tighten the score and bring the Eagles within three.

Madison Ravelo was the only Eagles goal in the third quarter while their defense was able to hold the Lancers to three goals.

The Eagle of the Week player Dailynn Santoro started the fourth with a ball hitting the back of the net within the firt three minutes of the quarter. CUI scored the last three points with just under three minutes left of the game from Reidel, Ravelo, and Mauriama Moore. The Eagles outscored the Lancers in the fourth with four goals compared to their one but was not able to secure the win, falling by a close two goals.

Tatiana Cava was in the net for the Eagles and racked up 10 saves making that the third time she lands in double-digits for saves this season.

The Eagles look to bounce back and play No. 14 San Diego State on Friday, Apr. 9 at 12:30 p.m. in their home pool at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. This match-up will be their only home game of the season and will be senior day for the Eagles.
