SURPRISE, Ariz. – The No. 14 Eagles defeat PLNU for the third time this season!
It is very difficult to sweep a team for the entire season, but the Green and Gold have done just that. With a close match up the Eagles were victorious with a final score of 4-3. Concordia lost the doubles point and the first single point creating a 0-2 deficit.
Patrick Wong decided to change that around by winning in the No. 2 singles position and earn the first point for the Eagles. The No. 1 singles position was won next by the Sea Lions creating a 3-1 lead. The Eagles now had to hold off PLNU for the rest of the matches in order to not lose the game.
Benjamin Buck stepped up and earned the second point for the Eagles. Buck won the first set on a tie breaker with scores of 7-3.
Mike Jansen was next to tie the game up as he won in three sets at the No. 5 singles position. Jansen had to come back after losing the first set 4-6. He then controlled the match winning the next two sets 6-3. Sofian Taybei Alaoui clinched the game for the Eagles as he won in three sets. First set went long with the finals score 5-7. He also had to come back after being down but dominated the last two sets (6-2, 6-1).
The Eagles will be looking to earn their first win against No. 6 Azusa Pacific on Apr. 23 at 1:00 p.m. in Surprise, Ariz. For the full schedule
