SURPRISE, Ariz. – The No. 18 women's tennis team fell short against a tough No. 11 Hawai'i Pacific.
This was the first time this season the two PacWest teams met due to playing primarily local teams. Hawai'i Pacific is the two- time reigning PacWest Champions as they won in both 2018 and 2019.
The doubles point was earned by the Sharks and they were able to keep the momentum in their favor as the singles matches went on. No. 44
Rebekah Anderson put up a fight at the No. 2 singles spot as she faced No. 20 Elodie Busson. Anderson won the first set but was unable to hold on as she lost the last two.
Heather Richards also battled at the No. 4 singles position as her first set ended on a tiebreaker with scores of 2-7.
Tiffany Carrillo also put up a strong front as her first set ended from a tiebreaker as well with scores of 4-7. The match ended with a final score of 0-4.
Ghazal Pakbaten,
Camila Tumosa, and
Taylor Lau all had at least one set under their belt with a win but their matches were unfinished. No. 36 Pakbaten faced No. 16 Marleen Tilgner and was one game point away from winning. The set scores were 6-3 and 6-5.
