SURPRISE, Ariz. – The No. 18 women's tennis team takes third place in the PacWest Championships!
The Concordia women's tennis team swept Biola which led to a season sweep! The Eagles earned third place at the PacWest Championships and are 15-4 overall. The match started strong as
Rebekah Anderson and
Taylor Lau won their doubles set at the No. 2 slot.
Camila Tumosa and
Alyssa Zayat came in next with the win to earn the doubles point for the Eagles.
Kimia Rahmani kept the momentum in Concordia's favor as she was the first singles match to finish. At the no. 6 slot, Rahmani defeated her opponent in two sets creating a 2-0 lead for Concordia. Tumosa, who recently was named
PacWest Newcomer of the Year, defeated her opponent as well in two sets leading the Eagles to one point away from the third-place win.
Tiffany Carrillo who battled in the No. 3 spot lost the first set and was able to win the next two to clinch the win for the Eagles!
"The energy was remarkable and very necessary to get us through the match today," said head coach
Jonathan Sanchez, recently named PacWest Coach of the Year. "Once again our women stepped up when faced with diversity.
Heather Richards and
Rebekah Anderson were both unable to play singles today due to health issues forcing them out of the lineup. With everyone playing in a new position they rose to the occasion and battled like they have done so well this season to get the win."
The Eagles will now await to see if they will make the Regional Tournament which will be in early May. To see how the Eagles have competed against their opponents this season
