Eagles Contend with Sturdy Broncos in Pomona

POMONA, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team traveled to Pomona to take on the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona Friday night.

It was proving to be a noticeably midfield-dominated first half between the Eagles and Broncos, with little chance for a team to edge the other. Until the 43rd minute when CPP's offense found an opportunity to enter the half with the singular goal advantage.

The Eagles defense continued to compete, led by senior keeper Hailey Asato who tallied five saves. Unfortunately, Cal Poly Pomona found the back of the net twice more in the 63rd and 69th minutes.

Riley Walkington, Olivia Ocampo, and Kayla Murakami each collected a shot for the Eagles.

CUI will be traveling to Biola next Saturday, Sept. 25th, at 4:00 p.m. for a non-conference matchup. Biola University has recently implemented a new spectator policy; please CLICK HERE for their official statement and updated guidelines, as No Visiting Spectators are allowed at this time.

The initially scheduled home game against Colorado Mesa University this upcoming Monday, Sept. 20th, has also now been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
