LA MIRADA, Calif. - The Concordia women's volleyball team took on another road game against Biola today. After coming off a sweep against Holy Names, the Eagles were looking to continue their momentum in conference play. The Biola Eagles were able to take the match in four sets with scores 17-25, 27-25, 19-25, and 16-25.
Middle blocker
Jalyssa Sanchez led the Eagles today offensively and defensively earning seven kills and four blocks with two of those being solo blocks. The Whittier native had an impressive hitting percentage of .500 with no errors in the four sets played. Sanchez is currently ranked No. 4 in the PacWest conference with a .342 hitting percentage.
Junior
Kirra Schulz continues to make an impact for the CUI Eagles behind the service line as she added another three aces. The outside hitter leads the PacWest conference with 19 aces in just nine games. Schulz added five kills and 11 digs in the four match contest today.
Setter
Brianna Latigue dished out 20 assists along with two kills and five digs. Junior libero
Cassidy Gelacio added 25 digs and one ace.
The second set was a close on as the score continued to toggle back and forth between each team. Schulz served up a four point run at the service line to extend their lead 21-17. Biola answered back by tying the score at 21 a-piece until
Patience O'Neal slammed a kill to snap their run. A kill from Schulz tied the score yet again at 25 all and
Hannah Tostado served until a block from Sanchez and Schulz secured the set win for CUI by a score 27-25.
The Eagles are 6-3 (1-1 PacWest) and are on the road to play against Azusa Pacific on Wednesday, Sept. 29 with a slated start time at 6 p.m. To follow the live action online, click
