IRVINE, Calif. - On Tuesday, Sept. 28, the morning was set aside with no classes on campus for the third annual Concordia Serves Day.
The day was a great opportunity for student-athletes, coaches and staff to take part in various community service efforts both on and off campus and connect with others while doing so.
Members of the men's volleyball and beach volleyball teams lent a helping hand by preparing help bags for the homeless at Charity on Wheels. The dance team joined with the men's tennis squad to help sort clothing and provide food at Mary's Kitchen.
The CUI softball team helped paint tables and brighten up Hart Park in Orange County, while members of the swim and dive teams joined with track and field athletes to assist with beach cleanup through the Surfrider Foundation of Newport Beach.
Many of our other CUI teams stayed on campus to help spruce up walkways between the CU Center, CU Arena and the BMC. The cross country teams helped tidy up the beautiful Heritage Garden and the baseball team even helped paint parking spots and fire lanes.
Another exciting event that has become a tradition here at Concordia is the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop.
Student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff gathered around the track to see thousands of golf balls dropped on to the center of the soccer field. CUI alum and former basketball player Tyler Lacour-Brown ultimately was our winner this year!
Thank you again to all members of our CUI Family who helped make this day possible and thank you in particular to all our alumni and donors for all your support year-round!
Go Eagles!
