IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team were in action today facing the Yotes of Cal State San Bernardino. CUI looking to earn their first regular season win in front of their home crowd after a thrilling overtime draw against CSULA over the weekend.
The Eagles were quick to strike in the first half as
Riley Walkington played
Carmany Jones into space in front of goal, striking it into the right side of the net, scoring her first on the regular season. The Eagles continued to place the pressure on CSUSB, firing 9 shots in just the first half and sustaining the 1-0 lead into halftime.
As the second half started, CUI's maintained the momentum, eventually doubling their lead in the 48th minute with a great play down the right wing by
Gabby Breton who was able to seek out
Olivia Ocampo at the top of the box, scoring her first career goal.
However, the Eagles were unable to maintain their lead with, the Yotes scoring a pair of goals, sending the match into extra time. Shortly into the first extra period of play, Cal State San Bernardino was able to find a game winner.
CUI women's soccer focuses forward to their next game, where they are on the road at Cal State Dominguez Hills this Saturday, Sept. 11th, at 4:30 P.M.
