IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University, Irvine men's volleyball team wrapped up the week with another win starting the season 2-0. The Eagles played against Saint Katherine on Thursday and finished in three straight sets with scores 25-14, 25-19, and 25-13.
 
A handful of Eagles saw the court tonight making their appearance known on the court. 11 different Eagles finished with at least one kill and 10 of those players recorded at least one block throughout the match.
 
Blocking was a huge contribution to the win for the Green and Gold as a team they recorded 32 blocks and three solo. The team earned their spot in the CUI record book with 17.5 blocks in just three sets where the previous record was held at 14 blocks in three sets against Princeton on Feb. 21, 2014.
 
Senior 
Owen Chun and freshman 
Max McCullough had a notable night with a combined of 15 blocks. Chun had two solo blocks while McCullough had one.
 
Jonathan Carlson led the Eagles with 10 kills and hitting an impressive .450 and eight digs. 
Uriel Batista was right behind with four kills and seven digs. Both Eagles tallied three blocks a-piece that came up big for the Eagles as they went straight down on the Firebirds side.   
Setters 
McLain Mott and 
Makai Lipson both had 10 and nine assists along with a total of four digs between the duo. 
Danny Smithers and 
Kobe Kiley wore the libero jersey tonight and each scooped up four digs.
The Eagles will continue their momentum in the CU Arena on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. where they will host The Master's.
