New PR's for Multiple Eagles in First Indoor Meet of 2022

LINCOLN, Neb. - In their first indoor track and field meet of the new year, the Eagles traveled to the Midwest to participate in the Prairie Wolf Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan. It was a bitterly cold morning in Lincoln as over twenty Eagles participated in Friday's meet. Despite the freezing conditions outside, they all brought the heat, facing up against fierce competitors from Division 1 University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Wyoming.

A handful of Eagles earned new personal records today in various events.

The first athlete that earned themselves a new PR is Mikayla Butler, claiming a spot in the finals of the 60m hurdles event, running a remarkable (9.24) in the preliminaries. The next member of the PR list is senior McKenna Wilson, securing a new personal record in the Women 1 mile ruun, clocking in at (5:21.87), and finishing 4th against many tough and talented runners. Coach Keegan Bloomfield described Wilson as "cool, calm, and collected..." after running her most outstanding race thus far in her tenured collegiate career. Lastly, Angelique Antonini earned a 5th place finish in the 3000m Run for the women's side and battled her way through a pack of Cowgirls to collect her new PR (10:20.82).

Transitioning to the men, two Eagles earned new personal records on Friday. First up was Kessler O'Brien, jumping the distance to a new PR in the long jump event, taking third with a first jump of (6.74m). Angel Aguirre wraps up the new PR's, go head-to-head with a rugged Cowboys 3000m team, finishing fifth with a time of (8:41.18).

Freshman Logan Nelson placed second in the 200m Dash, dominating a field of over twenty other participants with a time of (26.14).

"Overall, very happy with how we approached the meet and supported one another," added Bloomfield, after reflecting on the first meet of 2022.

Each attending member of the Green & Gold gave it their all today, from freshman to seniors, showcasing all the hard work they've put in throughout the holiday season. Tomorrow, they have another day of events as the team attends the Concordia Polar Dog Invite at Concordia Nebraska.
