IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team has earned their fourth consecutive as they took on Academy of the Art Saturday night. The Golden Eagles finished in a three set sweep with scores 25-17, 25-19, and 25-20.
Freshman
Ally Scheidle led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills while hitting .226.
Kennedy Farley and
Cassie Prior made their presence on the court each earning nine kills. Farley also led the Green and Gold in digs while finishing with a season high of 13 digs. Prior went 9-for-19 while hitting .474 with no errors on the night.
Gabrielle Barcelos had an impressive match with seven kills and led CUI with three aces throughout the sets that helped extend their lead over Academy of Art. Barcelos also put up three block assists alongside middle
Jalyssa Sanchez.
Mattie Prior went into the match and made an immediate impact on the court and finished the match with a kill.
Sanchez threw down five kills while hitting an impressive .500 on the match. Not only was Sanchez effective offensively but defensively as well as she finished with four blocks that went untouched on their opponents side.
Setters
Michelle Feliciano and
Devin Sivertson finished with 22 and 15 assists. The duo both made an impact defensively as they had 10 and seven digs. Libero
Julia Wilson dug up another double-digit night with 10 while
Cassidy Gelacio came into the game as defensive specialist and had seven digs.
The Golden Eagles are going on the road as they take on the three Hawaii schools next week and will start versus Hawaii Hilo on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10 p.m. PST. CUI will then play back-to-back nights against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific starting Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 with slated times 10 p.m. PST and 6:30 p.m. PST.
