IRVINE, Calif. – A rematch between Concordia and Biola men's soccer in PacWest Conference play wound up being very similar to the first non-conference meeting.
Two competitive, physical squads each found success on the attack and also room for improvement and ultimately settled for a 2-2 draw.
The match was originally slated to be played on Saturday but was postponed to Sunday due to lightning.
Miguel Pena opened the scoring with a goal in the seventh minute to put the Golden Eagles in front early.
Nikoa Markham put CUI up 2-0 before halftime on a run on the right side with a shot that beat the keeper.
The two talented teams combined for ten total yellow cards in what was a choppy, frisky match.
Biola rallied for two goals in the second half to salvage a draw with one coming off a penalty kick.
CUI is now 2-1-1 in conference play just like the CUI women's squad. Both teams host Point Loma this Wednesday, Oct. 19 with the women playing at 3:30 p.m. followed by the men under the lights at 6:30 p.m.
