Brace Yourself For A Huge Win

Golden Eagles Remain Unbeaten In October

IRVINE, Calif. - On Wednesday evening, the Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team faced off against the Point Loma Sea Lions in a PacWest matchup where both teams looked to keep their playoff aspirations alive. The Golden Eagles looked to avenge the loss from their San Diego foes earlier this season.

In the opening minutes of the first half, the Golden Eagles and the Sea Lions kept each at bay by keeping the midfield congested. Then in the 13th minute, Miguel Pena navigated his way through the Point Loma backline to find freshman Anthony Morales with a clean through ball. With the defense collapsing on him, Morales finessed the ball into the back of the net to give CUI a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles searched for another goal to give their lead some insurance. In the 67th minute, Chris Gould subbed in true-freshman Kevin Sanchez. Within three minutes of action, Sanchez found Morales, who sent the ball screaming past the keeper to earn his first brace of his young career. The Sea Lions were unable to respond, and the match ended in a win for the Golden Eagles, as they moved to 3-1-1 in the PacWest table.

The Golden Eagles will look to continue their unbeaten streak to five games next Monday, Oct. 24th, as they face against Hawai'i Pacific.
