IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team has extended their conference record to 11-4 after playing against Holy Names Friday. The last three sets were close as the Golden Eagles were able to come out with a four set victory with scores 25-18, 25-23, 19-25, and 25-21.
Hitter
Kirra Schulz had a dominating performance as she entered double digits in both kills and digs for the fourteenth time this season finishing the match with 24 kills and 16 digs.
Kennedy Farley and
Danielle McCasland had nine and seven kills respectively and each assisted with two blocks. Ally Scheidle came into the game and earned seven kills along with 13 digs which marks a career-high of digs for the freshman.
Middle blockers are dominate up at the net as the duo Halli Hooks and
Jalyssa Sanchez had six and five blocks throughout the match that were untouchable. Sanchez put up three solo blocks against HNU and tied her season-high from the last match against Azusa Pacific.
Setter Michelle Feliciano put up 23 assists and an impressive career-high at CUI with 22 digs.
Devin Sivertson was also part of the offense as she dished out 15 assists and reached 10 digs. Both setters contributed with aces as Feliciano earned three while Sivertson served up one.
Julia Wilson was once again all over the court scooping up 24 digs while earning five assists.
The first set was all about runs for the Golden Eagles as the score was close but edged off the Hawks with tough serving by Feliciano going on a couple runs and Farley finishing the set with back-to-back aces. Sets two and four were a comeback for the Green and Gold as they were trailing in both sets most of the time and came back to sneak out the wins by just a couple of points.
The Golden Eagles will play against Dominican Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. in the CU Arena. CUI will be on the road Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. as they take on Point Loma in San Diego, Calif.
