IRVINE, Calif. - On Saturday evening, the Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team faced off against the Chaminade Silverswords in an action packed Senior Night match. The Golden Eagles also looked to close the gap with Dominican in
the highly contested race for the PacWest title.
In the first half, it was a scoring masterclass by the Golden Eagles as they established a 3-0 lead going into halftime. It was poetic changing of the guard as senior
Miguel Pena opened the onslaught with a beautiful shot followed by two goals from freshman Anthony Morales and Kevin Sanchez.
In the second half of action the seniors kept their feet on the gas pedal as
Miguel Pena and
Alex Perez both scored to establish a staggering 6-0 lead over Chaminade. It was a family affair for CUI as 25 different Golden Eagles played in this stellar contest. Though the Silverswords were able to pull two goals back, Concordia came away with a huge 6-2 victory.
As of now that victory keeps the Golden Eagles title chances are still alive as they sit in third place with two games with two matches to go.Â
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Thursday, Nov. 3rd, as they face off against first-place Dominican in what will be one of the most pivotal games of the season.
