ORINDA, Calif. - On Thursday afternoon, the Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team faced off against Holy Names University Hawks in a PacWest matchup on the road. The Golden Eagles looked to earn their first win in conference play.
In the first half, the Golden Eagles were firing on all cylinders as
Alex Perez netted a brace in the first 16 minutes of action thanks to two wonderful assists from
Brett Lux. Then 15 minutes later
Nikoa Markham was able to find the back of a spectacular ball from
Luca Page. Despite Holy Names responding with a goal of their own to close out the half, this was CUI's best start to a match this season.
During the second half, the Hawks were able to net another goal to cut the lead to one for CUI. Though, Concordia's back line stepped up in the second half to prevent Holy Names from completing the comeback.
The game ended in a win for the Golden Eagles, as their attack was able to capitalize on five shots on goal
The Golden Eagles will continue their road trip this Saturday, Oct. 8th, as they face off against Fresno Pacific.
