Morales Magic In The 88th Minute

A Late Goal From Anthony Morales And Clean Sheet From Andre Flores Give CUI The Win

FRESNO, Calif. - On Saturday evening, the Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team faced off against Fresno Pacific Sunbirds to conclude their first PacWest road trip of the season. The Golden Eagles looked to build momentum after their first win in conference play.

In the first half, the Golden Eagles and the Sunbirds kept each other from getting on the board first, thanks to stellar play from each side's back lines. As both squads headed into halftime with a score of 0-0, it was clear that this match would be decided by whoever blinked first in this defensive showdown

In the second half, the stalemate remained as the clock continued to tick away. With their PacWest hopes on the line, the Golden Eagles needed a goal and they needed it quickly. All signs pointed to a draw until Miguel Pena blew by the Sunbirds' center backs and delivered a precise through ball to Anthony Morales, who launched it into the back of the net. The clutch goal gave CUI the lead and gave FPU no time to respond in the minute remaining on the clock.

The game ended in a huge win for the Golden Eagles, as they moved to 2-1 in the PacWest table.

The Golden Eagles will look to continue their winning ways at home this Saturday, Oct. 15th, as they face off in a highly anticipated rematch against Biola.
