FRESNO, Calif. - The Golden Eagles wrapped their short trip up north against the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific. CUI is coming off an impressive win against Holy Names two days prior with a conference record of 1-0-1.
In the 20th minute,
Jadenn Carrillo gave the Golden Eagles the lead with an excellent strike to the back of the Sunbird's net. Carrillo scored the second goal against conference opponents and her second of the trip. She lead the team in shots with a total of seven throughout the game!
Following Carrillo's goal,
Olivia Ocampo had an excellent opportunity to double the lead, but FPU's keeper came up big for her squad to mitigate the danger.
Freshman keeper
Riley Urquiza made three saves in the first half to keep the sole goal advantage.
The second half was a tough battle for the green and gold, with the Sunbirds scoring in the 65th and late in the 88th minute to steal the win.
Urquiza ended the game with four saves, and four separate Golden Eagles collected two shots of their own.
The Golden Eagles will be back in conference action next week when they take on Biola for the second time this season in Irvine.
