Thurman Goes For 27 Points Against Cal State Dominguez Hills

Box Score Playing in their second game in as many days, the Golden Eagles women's basketball team lost 81-66 to Cal State Dominguez Hills. Sophomore Teagan Thurman led all scorers in the game with 27 points going a cool 9 for 13 from the field.

After a slow start to the game, the Eagles found some momentum from behind the arc in the first quarter going 4 for 7. Thurman was a perfect 3 for 3 from three-point territory in the first period.

As halftime was approaching, head coach Christine Collins-Kiernan was preaching defense to her team and redshirt sophomore Erika Maggard listened. Maggard registered her first block of the season towards the end of the second period.

The Golden Eagles defense carried their momentum into the second half as they only allowed a combined 24 points in the 3rd and 4th periods. Junior forward Samantha Fries was able to do some work in the paint against the Toros after halftime finishing the game with 12 points and two steals.

CUI is back on the court for a home date against Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
