CUI Battles Loyola Marymount In Conference Quarterfinal

Austin Wade & Jacob Stuart Combine For Four Goals

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - On Friday morning, the Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team squared off against the Loyola Marymount Lions in the opening round of the Western Water Polo Association tournament. Concordia came into the match seeded seventh against nationally ranked Loyola.

In the first quarter, Loyola offense set the tone establishing a five goal lead alongside some stellar defense. Concordia's Jacob Stuart, Leo Erickson, and Micah McGranahan were able to cut the lead to seven with goals of their own before halftime.

The second half of action featured a more efficient offense as the Golden Eagles were able to get goals from Austin Wade, Harry Bentham, Jeff Runyan, and Stuart. Unfortunately, the Lions were able to keep their lead intact and came away with the 20-8 victory.
