IRVINE, Calif. - On Saturday afternoon the Concordia University Irvine women's basketball team faced off against the Urban Knights of Academy of Art. The Golden Eagles looked to keep their conference record spotless, after a solid win over Dominican earlier this week.
In the first half,
Katie Timmerman set the tone for Concordia's by flexing her long range capabilities and making 80% of her three point attempts for 14 points. The Golden Eagles' depth was on full display as
Sierra Clark and
Erika Maggard came off the bench and helped extend the lead to 18 heading into halftime.
Concordia did not take the foot off the gas heading into the third quarter of action.
Teagan Thurman dominated the paint while
Stephanie Lee made the Urban Knights pay from beyond the arc. Late in the fourth quarter, Head Coach
Christine Collins-Kiernan subbed in
Miranda Lomax into the game. The guard wasted no time converting a deep three that got the crowd rocking as she scored her first basket as a Golden Eagle.
Destiny Sambrano would get into the action, registering a steal and getting on the scoreboard for the first time this season.
The Golden Eagles would run away with a 74-58 victory to give them a strong 2-0 start in PacWest play. This was a commanding victory for the Golden Eagles as they shot 50% from beyond the arc and were only trailing for 44 seconds in the entire game
