IRVINE, Calif. -
Madison Ravelo was named Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading Concordia with five goals in their recent victory over Cal Lutheran.
It's the first time a Concordia Eagle has been honored with this weekly honor by the GCC in women's water polo in the school's NCAA DII Era.
The senior from Cypress, Calif. added an assist and two recorded steals against the Regals to help the Green and Gold secure a 12-10 win in their home opener last Friday.
"It is a huge honor to be recognized this way," said Ravelo. "Being honored like this just means that the effort I'm putting in and out of the pool is paying off. I am extremely proud of the team's effort so far! We have just begun the season and already doing amazing things. I can't wait to see what's to come for us!"
Ravelo enters Saturday's non-conference game against Azusa Pacific as CUI's leading scorer with 15 goals so far this season.
"I think Madison is excited to be healthy and wants to show everyone what she can do," added CUI head coach
Dreason Barry. "The last two yeas have not been satisfying for her. She is really hungry for water polo. Whether she is creating exclusions or facilitating the offense, she wants her team to be successful."
The Eagles are 2-3 entering their match with the Cougars and you can follow along with the live stats on the FOSH during that game by
